1. Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482)
· Type: Temporary visa (2–4 years).
· Purpose: Allows employers to sponsor skilled workers for roles they cannot fill locally.
· Streams:
o Core Skills Stream: For occupations on the The Core Skills Occupation List(CSOL). Visa valid for up to 4 years (renewable once in Australia).
o Specialist Stream: Your occupation is an Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) listed Occupation, excluding occupations listed in Major Groups 3, 7 or 8, Where the nominated salary for the position meets the Specialist Skills Income Threshold(ssit). Visa valid for up to 4 years, with a pathway to permanent residency (PR).
o Labour Agreement Stream: For employers with a labour agreement with the Australian government (e.g., for niche industries).
Key Requirements:
· Sponsorship: Employer must be an approved sponsor.
· Occupation: Must be on the CSOL, ANZSCO (SSIT is AUD$13,500), or a labour agreement list.
· Skills Assessment: Required for certain occupations (e.g., trades, engineering).
· Work Experience: At least 1 year of relevant experience.
· English: IELTS 5.0 (or equivalent) for most roles; higher scores for some occupations.
· Market Salary Rate: Employer must pay the worker at least the Australian market salary.
Pathway to PR:
· 482 visa holders can transition to PR via the Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186) after working 2 years with the sponsoring employer.
